For as long as I can remember I have wanted to have a more shapely figure. I was built pretty much like a wood fence post. And I have always wanted curves. Exercise and weights do wonders for your butt and legs, but nothing for your breast. So for me this has been a 30 year dream. Marriage, kids, college, and work have occupied my life over the past 26 years. So I figured it was time to do something for me.
In the year 2000 all three of my children got married. Which left me with an empty nest. No complaints here though.
So I started thinking about me for a change. And of course my life long desire for a shapely figure always surfaced to the top of the list. So I started my research on enlarging my bust size. First thing I did was start buying breast enlargement pills. I tried several different brands, always buying the 6 month supply. Because they said it took that long to see results. What can I say, I am a sucker. To make a long story short, THEY DO NOT WORK! So I redirected my research to breast augmentation. I wanted a totally natural look and feel.
While on the internet one evening in July of 2003, I read an article on how the new cohesive gel implants looked and felt more like natural breast. That caught my attention right away. The article was posted by Diane Hart with the Mentor Corporation. So I e-mailed Diane Hart right away and asked about the cohesive gel implants and if there were any PS's in Oregon. She got right back to me the very next day and gave me Dr. Jewell's phone number in Eugene. So I contacted Dr. Jewell's office and set up a consult for the cohesive gel study. They only had two openings left!!
So on September 2, 2003 I went for my consult with Dr. Jewell to see if I would qualify for the Mentor Cohesive Gel Implant Study. I qualified for the study. Dr. Jewell also offered me saline filled implants. But I knew I wanted the cohesive gels so I signed up that day, booked my surgery date, and paid the consultation fee and surgery booking fee. The balance of $5400.00 would be due 3 weeks before surgery.
October 8, 2003, here I am in Dr. Jewells office for my pre operation appointment. Seems like a lifetime has gone by since September 2nd. All I have been thinking about is boobies. And the thought of volunteering for surgery is very scary. My list of instruction include, washing with Dial antibacterial soap, no aspirin, Advil, Aleve, or vitamins one week prior to surgery. No food or drink for 8 hours before surgery. I was sent home with a packet of papers to read. Most of which had to be signed the morning of my surgery. Dr. Jewell wanted me to read all the fine print and be sure this is what I wanted to do. I am glad he did this. I read everything twice, so on surgery day all I had to do was sign all the paperwork after a couple of questions were answered. And I was ready.
My friend drove me to Dr. Jewell's office early on Monday morning, October 20, 2003. First we checked into our hotel room, I did not want to do this after surgery. Unless you live in Eugene, Dr. Jewell does not want you going home the first night after surgery. Then we went back to Dr. Jewell's office and I checked in for surgery. Everybody was real nice. I was allowed to keep on my panties and socks. Everything else came off. I put on the gown, the hair cap, booties, got my IV, and started getting drugs. They asked me what kind of music I liked, I said 60 & 70's rock and roll. Then Dr. Jewell came in and said "oh so its rock and roll is it?" Then he removed my gown and started drawing on me. Then he helped me lay down, and that is all I remember. I woke up, seems like about 2 min later, and I had a sheet in front of my face and could hear Dr. Jewell and the nurses talking. He said everything went well and looked good. The nurses helped me up, and helped m
e get dressed. I was sent to my hotel room and told to eat and take my pain meds. My close friend was given instruction on how to clear my drains, and when to give me pain meds and antibiotics. I felt no pain and was comfortable except for back pain from sleeping in an upright position. The next day I went back to see Dr. Jewell. He wanted to leave the drains in for yet another day, but he sent me home. So on Wednesday my friend and I made the 2 hour trip back to Eugene to get my drains removed. By then the pain meds were really getting to me and I felt terrible. So after the drains were removed, I went home and flushed the pain meds down the toilet. I would rather feel the pain then feel so awful and not be able to think straight. My list of post operation instructions included no lifting, no housework, no mommy work, no laundry, no cooking, and no shopping. Just a quiet week at home. I felt pretty good and wanted to do so much. It was really hard for me to sit and do nothing.
November 3, 2003, I am 2 weeks post opt. And I feel really good! I have twinges in my breast and I feel the most discomfort when I get up in the morning. I started back to work last week and that went really well also. I still cannot lift anything very heavy and have to watch my self. I have a tendency to overdo. My breast have dropped a little and are starting to soften up. I also have complete feeling coming back. I am so thankful!!
I am very pleased with the outcome and feel this is the best $5600.00 I have ever spent!
