Why I wanted breast augmentation
I am not miserable with my breasts... they are small but they are losing their perkiness. I hate wearing bras but I am not happy with the way my boobs are hanging these days! Since I have gained a little weight they are bigger and saggier. Yuck! I am 40 years old and have a 13 yo son. I think since I turned 40 I have noticed things about myself that I never gave a second thought to... besides my breasts that is... like: wrinkles, dry skin, thinner hair, bigger belly, thighs and… the worst... back fat! Yikes! I have never been a selfish person especially raising my son on my own -- also working in the medical field -- give, give, give… not complaining really because it’s very gratifying but now I’m like… hey, what about me? I want to feel good about myself and now’s the time to do it. I finally found a great guy (boy, don’t I deserve it!?) and I want to feel sexy... it’s like I am getting a second chance to be 30 again -- but really enjoy it this time! Funny how you don’t appreciate your body when you are younger, huh? I looked great back then and always found something wrong with myself. Anyway... I am happy with me on the inside so I wanted to be happy with me on the outside -- it’s really just that simple.

How I went about researching the procedure and finding my surgeon
The doctor who is doing my BA has actually already performed a rhinoplasty on me 2 years ago. I really trust him... I literally put my face in this guys hands and he did a great job. It wasn’t a major change; I just wanted the bump on the bridge of my nose removed (any Italian girls out there?) I got most of the information about the procedure and the type of breast implants and incisions from Dr. Hass. He suggested High Profile breast implants under the muscle for me with a crease incision. I did do my own research and feel that his suggestions suit me. So I am sticking with it. The only change that I have made is cup size. I am barely a B cup right now. I thought I wanted a C because I have always been athletic and couldn’t imagine big boobies getting in the way. Hoooowwwever... after looking at Playboys, Hustlers, and sites on the internet I know I wouldn’t be happy with a C. So it’s going to be a D. My boyfriend and I agree on this. I said “D” for Debbie… he said DD’s because there are 2 breasts! Men!!

How my consultations went
My first consultation was 2 years ago when I was going for my nose job. I decided I didn’t want to have surgery again for awhile and decided to wait. Last month I went for another consultation and made the appointment for surgery (April 14th). I don’t need a lift and my breast aren’t that asymmetrical so my doc thinks I am going to be really happy with my results.

Tomorrow (April 5th) is my pre-op appointment. I am bringing in a few pictures and my mammogram report. I am not sure what else will go on but I am excited about the appointment. I haven’t been too nervous until the last few days. Maybe just apprehensive... it’s surgery, right? But hopefully all my fears will be put to rest after tomorrow and then the count down is on.

Will write more about my surgery and my recovery, etc after next week. I am enjoying everyone’s journals and the message boards. They have been very informative and helpful.
