Postoperative Breast Augmentation Appointment

The appointments you have with your surgeon after breast implant surgery are very important. Your postoperative appointment is when the surgeon gets a chance to gauge your progress and assess any further needs you may have to improve your results. They are also an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and express concerns to the surgeon. Or you can simply gush with happiness about your outcome.

Usually, you will see your surgeon within a week of your surgery for your first postoperative appointment and again perhaps a week after that. During these postoperative appointments, your surgeon will examine your incisions and remove sutures, if necessary. He or she will also check the appearance of your breasts and as questions about how you are feeling during your recovery.

Find out before your surgery whether the costs of your postoperative appointment are included in your surgeon’s fee. You should also find out how many postoperative appointments are included. If you have a complication, you may need to see the surgeon more often than anticipated before your surgery. Some surgeons do not charge for postoperative appointments for 6 months after surgery and others do not charge for postoperative visits for as long as you need them.

Some surgeons suggest that you come in for appointments 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, and 6 months after your surgery. Some want to see you 1 month, 4 months, and 6 months after your surgery.  Then again some surgeons don’t see you again after 1 or 2 months.

We have a list of questions and topics for your post-operative appointments. This list can help you prepare your thoughts and go over any concerns or comments want to cover at the appointment.

Don't be afraid to discuss any concerns or dissatisfaction you may have.  Just remember that you are still healing and will continue to heal for several months before you can judge your outcome.
